Allergood Grew Out of Passion

Allergood was born from the personal passion of our Founder, Michelle Addison. Her kids were born with food allergies and she and her husband developed adult-onset allergies. Between the five of them, they avoid peanuts, tree nuts, sulfites, dairy, and egg. When her daughter was born with dairy and soy allergies in 2010, she felt lost and unsupported. She created a blog to share recipes and create a community where families could learn from and support one another. Over time she realized that food allergy families need so much more.

We Need Allergood Now More than Ever

Today, 1 in 4 Americans avoid buying a top-9 allergen food product. That’s 84 million Americans that are avoiding allergens, 32 million of them just to keep loved ones with allergies safe. With half of fatal food allergy reactions happening outside of the home, we need to create safe spaces at restaurants. We know that 15% of families with food allergies avoid restaurants completely. Most surprisingly, by not creating transparency into food allergens at restaurants, restaurants are losing $45 million per week  – over $2 billion per year! When guests don’t know what’s safe, they spend 60% less than they would if they knew what items they could safely consume. Allergood provides instant access to allergen information, allowing restaurants to focus on what they do best – creating delicious food and crafting enjoyable guest experiences.
